Sunday 16th March 2014: Birdboxes in Goyt Valley

A team from Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers tackled very muddy conditions to put up nestboxes made at the last outdoor meeting for the Goyt Valley. A total of 20 boxes have now been erected and will count towards Wildlife Explorers’ target of 1,000 new homes for wildlife to be made during this year in support of The RSPB’s ‘Giving Nature a Home’ campaign.
The nestboxes will benefit a range of birds during this year’s breeding season in the Peak Park beauty spot. The group are hoping that as well as blue tits and greats tits, migrants such as pied flycatcher and spotted flycatcher could also make use of these new nest sites.
